Mists: Not just point & shoot...

YOU COULD WIN!

Leave a comment on this post and you could win one seat in the Mists — Not Just Point & Shoot class which runs from July 6-July 20. (A $29.99 value.)

Here's a little more about the class from the instructor, Heidi Myers:

Mists. What’s not to love? But once you’ve sprayed a few pieces of card stock,  what do you with the other 90% of the bottle? As a certified mist junkie, I know a thing or two about mists. I also have a  large number of them and after awhile, the number of them outgrew the number of  techniques I knew how to use with them. So I set out on a quest to find ways to  use them and get some serious bang for my buck.

When I decided to teach a class on mists, I knew I didn’t want to just cover the  basics. While learning them is important, so is learning how to step outside the  basics – and our own comfort zones – and learning how to take your skills to the next level.

My ultimate goal for the class is to have you push the limits on everything you  can do with mists, including using them on surfaces you may not have thought of, using common tools such as paint brushes and brayers and spatulas in different ways, pairing them with basic scrapbook supplies such as stencils and masks and  chipboard and rub-ons in interesting ways, as well as using them to up the wow  factor on paints and gels and pastes and glues.

There is a class size limit, so if you have interest in taking the class you should purchase it soon. If you win and have already purchased, Heidi will refund your money.

To sign up for the class or learn more about it, head over to the main page.

In case you don't know who Heidi is (she was my partner in crime at Sketchy Thursdays), here is some more about her.

Since she was a little girl Heidi Myers gravitated toward creative endeavors  and approached tasks from her own crafty perspective. So it was small wonder  that her introduction to scrapbooking about eight years ago was like meeting an old friend for the first time. Heidi's affection for paper crafting, and  subsequently mixed media, has grown steadily ever since. Over the years she's learned to give herself permission to create for her, not a standard set by  popular outlets or the status quo. This has given Heidi the courage to explore,  discover and approach products and techniques with an unclouded and thoroughly  curious eye. Heidi thrills to the prospect of learning something completely new and out of her comfort zone and devising different ways to use and do things. Heidi shares her curiosity and findings through articles and tutorials for Scrapbook News and Review Magazine and as full-length classes on The Art Studio at Scrapbook News and Review.

Heidi is currently an Education Coordinator and Assistant Editor for Scrapbook News and Review Magazine and an Instructor for The ArtStudio at Scrapbook News and Review. She was a co-founder of Sketchy Thursdays, formerly on several  Design Teams including Precocious Paper, Pink Ninjas, Torendi and Design  Dollies, and has been published in Paper Crafts Magazine. You can check out  more of her work in the pages of Scrapbook News and Review Magazine and on her  blog artiql8 by heidi.

Pinterest [tasty}

Hi there! As I said yesterday, my creativity is being channeled into July projects — so for now, I'll catch up on all that Pinterest love that seems to have gone by the wayside lately.

Cheese Danish {Source

I made this last weekend and I was the only one that liked it. I am pretty sure that when I make it next time I will use less of the filling and also add in almond slivers. It needed a little bit of something else to entice the boys to join me in this one.

Pulled Pork and Cole Slaw {Source}

I have not made this particular recipe, but thanks to eating at Quaker Steak & Lube, I am now a fan of putting cole slaw on pulled pork sandwiches. I pinned this to make, but ended up creating my own recipe. Regardless of how you do it, you need to try cole slaw on your next pulled pork sandwich.

Anything on your radar? Share the link to your Pinterest board in the comments and I'd love to follow you!

July Cocoa Daisy {peeks}

My blog is going to get pretty boring for a little while. I'm working ahead on July projects and that hasn't left much time for playing around just for the fun of it.

But I can't leave you hanging! Here are some sneak peeks of what I've been doing with the Cocoa Daisy Note to Self July kit and the Take Note add-on kit.

Do you plan on getting the Note to Self kit? I'd sign up asap for a new Cocoa Daisy 6 month sub if you're interested! Just sayin'....

Note to self {cocoa daisy}

Note to Self, the Cocoa Daisy July kit, is filled with new releases from October Afternoon, My Mind's Eye, Echo Park and an exclusive Cocoa Daisy Stamp Set you will be reaching for over and over again. Not to mention the very fun surprise we've included in each kit from 7gypsies.

Here are some of the pictures from a couple of the add ons.

And the stamp subscription for this month. WOW! I am so excited about these. Loving the numbers!

Play {Cocoa Daisy}

Hi! I have another Cocoa Daisy June kit layout to share with you. For this page, I used my Cameo and got a bit messy with one of the Cocoa Daisy custom diamond stamps.

I cut out a diamond background from the Cameo and then stamped inside the negative areas. Add in a few splatters of mist for good measure... I also cut out the word "play" with the Cameo using the red wood grain paper in the kit.

This page was fun to make because I really didn't have a plan. I wanted to mess around with the stamps and my Cameo — and the end result is fun and playful. Just what I was going for!

Thanks for stopping to see my blog. Did you get a Cocoa Daisy kit? Hope you're having a blast creating with it!

Congrats {card}

Hello! One more Sweet Day from Echo Park card for you. I used the 6x6 paper pad again for this. The little kite is from Martha Stewart. I've been hoarding that pack of kites — so cute!

Not too much to say today — just a reminder to go back to Monday's post and follow the Canvas Corp / Paper Issues blog hop for your chance to win the fabulous prize from Canvas Corp. With Father's Day coming up, burlap and canvas are great choices for manly cards and gifts for Dad.

Thanks for stopping by here!

Celebrate {card}

Just popping in today to share a card with you. More Sweet Day from Echo Park mixed with American Crafts Dear Lizzy. The butterflies are from My Mind's Eye.

I love that so many collections mix and match so well lately.

Thanks for stopping and hope your week is going well!

Oh, sweet day!

I love the Echo Park Sweet Day collection. Even for a boy page, it is has the best patterns and colors for summer. For the one hour challenge at the Creative Scrappers challenge, I grabbed my Sweet Day 6x6 paper pad and started layering. It was the perfect way to add dimension and color to a quick page.

I snapped this picture last month when Nate was at the playground. I love taking pictures there because he's always so animated and the playground equipment makes for the best backgrounds.

Thanks for stopping to see my page. I have more Sweet Day projects for you this week, so stop back by. And don't forget to check out yesterday's post about the Canvas Corp/Paper Issues blog hop and prize!

Creative Scrappers {layouts}

Creative Scrappers had an online crop last weekend and thanks to being shut up in the house with a boy who had a fever, I had a chance to play along with some of the sketches.

I got to use my chicken wire mask on this page and some mists. I used distressing inks for the blue chicken wire and the yellow mist is a Maya mist. Gotta love those little Studio Calico stars!

Here is the second layout I made for the crop. I used a picture from when we went to our first Red Wings game of the season. It was so cold, but also fun to finally go to a game.

The papers and embellishments are a mix of Echo Park and Jillibean Soup. Both have great baseball collections this year. I think I'm already going to need to order some more — and it's only June! Yikes!

Thanks for stopping to see my layouts. :) Hope your week is going well.

Cocoa Daisy {U & Me}

The June Cocoa Daisy stamp subscription has the best "&" stamp. I love that it is the negative of the stamp. Though, I have to admit, that after stamping it the first time I had to stare and turn it to see which way was up. My eyes were playing tricks on me!

I put together this cute little card using the lily bee die cuts and part of the Simple Stories Summer Fresh paper with the strips.

Thanks for stopping to see my card today. I love the home-like feel to this card. It's like a paper hug. :)

Tool time! {imaginisce}

For the month of June, each DT girl at Imaginisce is taking a stab at making two different projects using the same tool. I choose to use the i-top punches. They come in small, medium, large and extra large, making it easy to layer and work with them together. Of course, I also used the i-top when joined them.

For the first project, I made a small gift box cut from my Cameo. I used all four punches for the flower on the top and a small brad daddy. There are also small and medium punches for decoration on the sides of the boxes. The papers are from the Hello Cupcake collection.

(PS: There is a challenge at The Paper Variety to make something besides a layout or a card. Why not give a gift box a try. There are a lot of templates out there!)

For my second project, I made a layout. I also used the Hello Cupcake line here, too — the 6x6 paper pad. These papers are great for layering.

I used the small and medium punches here to make the flower in the upper corner. I used the small punch to also make a border along the bottom and a small sunburst at the top.

As you can see, there is so much more to these punches than just helping to cover the metal pieces for the i-top. I love the flare and versatility that they offer as a punch tool.

Thanks for stopping to see my tool project for Imaginisce. Stop by their blog all month long for ideas on how to use the variety of tools that Imaginisce makes.

Cocoa Daisy {Hulk Smash}

Hi! Sharing some more love for the Cocoa Daisy: Hello Sunshine June kit. I didn't use any stamps on this layout, so it is just the kit here. I love all of the little bits and pieces this month.

The picture is of Nate messing around with his Hulk character not long after we saw the Avengers movie. He couldn't stop saying, "Hulk smash!" afterward. It was getting to be funny, so I wanted to document it.

Thanks for stopping to see my layout. Tomorrow I'll have some Imaginisce goodness for you as we start a series on using the Imaginisce tools.

Cocoa Daisy {Hello Sunshine}

I went a bit overboard with the June kit for Cocoa Daisy: Hello Sunshine. I felt like after I'd complete a layout or a card, I'd have another idea and just kept going.

Here is one of the pages I made that was quilt-inspired by the Simple Stories Summer Fresh papers in the kit. Those extra little green and yellow diamonds are 2 of the custom Cocoa Daisy stamps that are for the month of June. I used paint dabbers and love the thick look it leaves when you stamp.

My little man here does not own this hat. He tried it on in Target and looked so cute I couldn't help but snap a picture. Every time I see the pic, I want to go back and get that hat!

Thanks for stopping. I have lots more Cocoa Daisy to share, so I'll be back!

Imaginisce {sketch challenge}

Hi! I made the sketch for this month's challenge over at Imaginisce. If you have some Imaginisce goodies laying around, give the sketch a whirl and enter it into the monthly challenge.

I made my layout using the sketch using a combination of different collections from Imaginisce. The background paper is from Makin' Waves. The smaller scraps are from Hippity Hop, Makin' Waves, Sole Sisters and Hello Cupcake. All of their lines go so well together.

I took this picture of Nate and instantly loved it. He's just so darn photogenic. Love this kid! And below is the sketch for the challenge. I hope you'll have a chance to join in with us!

Thanks for stopping by to see my layout and the sketch. Hope you're having a great weekend!

ScrapFIT {sketch challenge}

Hello! Today I'm sharing with you my layout for the sketch I made using the 6/1 Sketch Challenge at ScrapFIT. If you haven't played along over there, stop by and take a peek. We're having fun — you should join in with us! :)

I made this page using the June kit from Scrapbook Circle, which is chock full of This & That from Echo Park as well as fabulous blues, greens and textures.

The photos on this layout are from when my friend Lisa took my new head shot at work. I was getting new business cards and being the staff photog, someone else needed to take my pic. I was laughing at the other people in the room and Lisa managed to capture it.

This is the sketch and stop by the ScrapFIT site to see what the rest of the team made with it.

I hope you'll have a chance in the next few weeks to stop by and play along with us. And thanks for stopping by to see my layout today.
