my layout for sketchy thursdays

Happy Monday! Here is my sample layout that goes with this week's SKETCHY THURSDAYS challenge. This page is from last summer. This may be the first time I've posted a LO with my darling husband in a picture. I take so many pictures of just Nate that it's tough to remember to get my husband or myself in them, too.

This week's sketch can be seen in the right sidebar, as well as direction on how to submit your entry. Love to see some new faces this week! A great prize from Pink Owl Paperie will be sent to the weekly drawing winner.

Supplies: Cosmo Cricket (pp), Hambly (transparency), Fancy Pants (felt), Chatterbox (epoxy stars and the star buttons), Making Memories (sticker letters), American Crafts (Thickers and Flair)

perspective photography

I would hardly call myself a photographer (only by hobby), but I do like to play around with neat perspectives with the pictures I take.

Today my son and I went to the playground, one of our fave weekend activities. These aren't color corrected or even cropped, but I wanted to throw them up here to share them.

It helps to have a 'super cheeser' like I have with Nate. He'll pose for anything, and he'll even tell me if he thinks I'm missing a shot.

And this shot isn't really a perspective photo but rather a picture of my son being goofball!

i love this boy!

sketchy thursdays sketch challenge

Feeling a bit patriotic, am I? With the announcement of the next winner being on the Friday before July 4th, I felt the need to include some stars. And, I am a star junkie. I'd have to say that if I have a fave shape, a star would be it.

Link to the comments section your page or card that goes with this sketch, or you can also click on the sample sketch in the right sidebar to e-mail me your link to or image of your entry.

Can't wait to see what everyone comes up with! The prize for next week will be from Pink Owl Paperie. (Thanks, Renee!!) Here is just a sample of her scrappy goodness to get you ready! Stop by her shop and pick up some of these goodies before they're gone!

what a great turn out for sketchy thursdays!

Thanks for playing along with this week's challenge. Below are all of the entries for the previous sketch.
Thanks to Jennifer from Half Full Martini for donating some great prizes!

And now, to announce a winner. For those who are new to SKETCHY THURSDAYS, I can't just pick someone because I think all of the pages are beautiful. So, I chicken out and use the random number generator.

We're here for fun, so I keep it random.

The winner this week is: Brittney. Visit her blog here to see more of her work. Thanks for playing along! I love how bright your page is, and the stitching on the cloud is adorable!

meet Jennifer!

Jennifer runs the Half Full Martini blog and makes wonderful journaling spots and tags that she sells at her shop on Etsy.

I asked Jennifer a few questions and here's her story:
I am from Memphis, TN.
and started paper crafting when I was a kid. I have always loved creating, especially with paper. I could spend hours on my computer designing new paper goodies.

I really got serious about selling my items about two years ago. I was creating pieces for friends and friends of friends, so I decided to expand my horizons and open up my Etsy shop.

I was working full time then so I didn't get to spend a huge amount of time on it, plus the birth of our second child left little time to create. I quit my job of 14 years last year to be a stay at home mom.

I also have a monogramming business that keeps me busy as well. I like combining both monogramming, sewing and my paper crafting to see what I can come up with.

Thanks, Jennifer, for sharing! Everyone, check out her shops. Here are some of the items in her store that I think are just darling.

Jennifer has graciously donated a cute prize pack of her scrappy goodness for the winner of this week's sketchy challenge. So get your entries in! The sketch is on the right sidebar. E-mail your page or card to me at dianadesigns@rochester.rr.com or post a link to your creation in the comments section today.

Thanks all, and thanks again, Jennifer!

hush little one door hanging

I made this cute little door hanging for the Vintage Plum Hang It challenge last week. I love how soft and pretty it turned out. Of course, I have a three-year-old boy so I have no immediate use for this, it was just really fun to make.

Congrats to Heidi who did win that challenge. Check out her Hang It entry here. Love those lamps from Unity Stamps. Perfect!!!

a star has arrived

A co-worker of mine adopted recently, and of course we wanted to celebrate. This is the card I made.

Stars were important to the family so I knew that I would include those, but what to do to celebrate an adopted child that is a year old? You don't want it to be too 'baby.' And in the same right, it isn't a birthday card.

I think this card did a good job of announcing the celebration of a new, younger member to the family. The inside had a sweet message: "Some moments are worth holding in your heart forever."

Do you have any suggestions for adoption cards to share? I'd love to see them. Link them in the comments section.

vintage plum june kit love

Hello! Today I am posting the page I made using the June kit from Vintage Plum. It's called Alphabet Soup and it had some great pieces this month. I'm way behind on playing around with it, so this is all I have so far.

I cut the heck outta that kit! I can't remember the last time I hand cut so many pieces from one sheet of paper (the Girl Friday sheet from Cosmo Cricket was butchered! So much good stuff on that sheet)!

I pop-dotted almost everything. I'm not sure if you can tell in the pictures, but there is a great 3-D quality to this page that I love.

If you need a new, fun kit to play with, cruise on over to VP, there's some fun stuff over there.

vintage goodness

Vintage is so fun right now. Even what's new is being made to look old.

This is the tag I submitted to the Value of Vintage challenge at Moxie Fab World. I made it at the request of my mother-in-law for a family friend's 50th wedding anniversary. She attached it to a quilt she gave them.

I didn't win the challenge, but you should check here to see the fabulous entries that did win. Do you have some vintage goodness you want to share? I'd love to see it! Link it to the comments section if you'd like to share.

Want to get in on another vintage challenge? Check here at twopeasinabucket.com to submit your vintage entry by June 30.

Supplies: Martha Stewart library pocket, Prima (flowers), Making Memories (green ribbon bow), Chatterbox (butterflies and button), doily, twine, vintage safety pin

Enter for this week's Sketchy Thursday challenge.
Your odds of winning some blog candy are pretty good! Link your page in the comments section that goes with this week's sketch by 11:59 p.m. EST tonight. I'll announce the winner and a post a new sketch tomorrow morning.

hero arts, quickutz and a little sassafras

Over at Hero Arts' blog and QK's blog they are having a joint blog week. They have been giving away great prizes and encouraging readers to make a card using both HA and QK products. So I did! This is my card.

And, because I am a total Sassafras fan as well, Sassafras was encouraging readers to use the old with the new. So, I got out an old Wee Bundle I had of Sassafras to cut the QK bird out, and used some new Vintage Yummy for the PP in the card.

I just love how cute this turned out. Thanks for looking. And don't forget to read your fave scrappy blogs today!

*UPDATE: So excited, this card was on the
Sassafras Blog today!*

PS: As I went to link the blogs in this post, I saw that I won yesterday's giveaway on QK!!! Yeah! Here is what I won, so excited!
